How to Create a Business Outcome or Project Card
Create a Card
Every initiative, project, and measurable result begins with a card.
The Create a Card feature allows you to capture strategic goals, initiatives, projects, key results, and supporting work in one centralized location. Cards provide the foundation for planning, tracking progress, assigning ownership, and measuring success across your organization.
Purpose
The purpose of the Create a Card feature is to provide a consistent way to capture, organize, and manage work throughout the Business Outcomes platform.
Whether you're creating a high-level Business Outcome or a detailed Project Card, every card becomes part of your organization's strategic hierarchy, ensuring work remains visible, measurable, and aligned with business objectives.
Business Case
Organizations need a structured way to transform ideas into measurable outcomes. Without a centralized system, work can become disconnected, making it difficult to understand ownership, monitor progress, or evaluate performance.
The Create a Card feature helps teams:
- Capture new strategic initiatives and operational work.
- Assign ownership and accountability.
- Connect work to parent objectives and Key Results.
- Organize projects into a clear hierarchy.
- Track progress across dashboards and reports.
- Improve collaboration and organizational visibility.
By standardizing how work is created, teams can ensure every initiative contributes toward broader business goals.
Overview
Cards are the primary work items used throughout the platform.
Depending on your organization's configuration, cards may represent:
- Business Outcomes
- Strategic Goals
- Initiatives
- Projects
- Key Results
- Stories
- Milestones
- Other custom work types
Each card serves as its own workspace where users can:
- Update progress
- Assign owners
- Add descriptions
- Attach documents
- Record comments
- Manage dependencies
- Track financial information
- Monitor performance
Once a card is created, it becomes available throughout the platform, including dashboards, hierarchy views, reports, and performance tracking.
