Purpose

The Timeline View is where your projects come to life! ✨
Think of it as your organization’s storytelling strip showing how every project, milestone, and initiative unfolds across time. It’s your go-to view for seeing who’s doing what, when, and how it all fits together.

From forecasting the future to spotting overlaps before they become roadblocks, the Timeline View helps you plan smarter, stay on schedule, and keep your projects marching in perfect rhythm.

Business Case

As a user, the Timeline View gives you superpower-level visibility into how work flows across your organization.
Use it to:

  • Track progress over time — see how initiatives and projects evolve week by week.

  • Spot dependencies and conflicts — identify where timelines overlap or need a little fine-tuning.

  • Stay aligned — keep teams and leaders on the same page by visualizing all milestones in one continuous view.

With everything mapped out in a single glance, you can make confident decisions, prioritize what matters most, and adjust timelines proactively before small delays turn into big surprises.

Overview

In the Timeline View, every project and its child cards are beautifully displayed along a chronological path spanning weeks, months, or even years. This layout gives you a clear, visual pulse on how work is progressing compared to plan.

At the top of the page, you’ll see the total card count, showing exactly how many initiatives or projects are being tracked.
Need to zoom in or out? Simply toggle between Week, Month, or Year using the buttons in the upper-right corner to view your data at just the right level of detail.

It’s like having your own cinematic timeline complete with milestones, motion, and momentum.

See the visual below to get a glimpse of how your organization’s journey unfolds in the Timeline View!

Viewing Projects and Hierarchies

Each row in the Timeline View represents a project card. When a card includes dependent work or subprojects, a caret (▸) appears next to the title.

  • Click the caret to expand and view all child cards beneath that project in a hierarchical format.

  • This drill-down reveals relationships between parent and child work items, helping teams visualize dependencies and sequencing.

  • The hierarchy makes it easy to identify which smaller projects or milestones contribute to larger organizational initiatives.

Timeline Bars and Indicators

Each card displays its project duration as a colored bar plotted on the timeline.

  • The start and end dates correspond to the left and right edges of the bar.

  • The length of the bar represents the project’s duration.

  • The color of the bar indicates the project’s progress status (🟢 On Track, 🟡 Watch, 🔴 Delayed).

  • Key checkpoints may appear as diamond-shaped markers (🔷) along the timeline.

Hovering over a bar provides quick access to the project’s title, percentage of completion, and key dates.

Columns and Data Displayed

Alongside the visual timeline, you’ll see a grid containing key project details. Each column includes:

  • ID – The system-generated identifier for each project.

  • Card Title – The project or initiative name.

  • Owners – The team members responsible for delivery.

  • Team – The department or work group associated with the project.

  • Start Date / End Date – The planned project timeframe.

  • Progress – A visual indicator of completion percentage.

This combination of tabular and visual data helps users quickly interpret both schedule and progress context in one view.

Adjusting the Timeline Scale

Use the time scale selector in the upper-right corner to adjust how the timeline is displayed:

  • Week View – Displays detailed, short-term project progress for close monitoring.

  • Month View – Provides a mid-range view ideal for tracking quarterly execution.

  • Year View – Offers a high-level perspective across long-term initiatives or annual plans.

Switching between scales updates the timeline in real time, preserving your expanded hierarchy selections.

Sorting, Filtering, and Exporting

  • Use the Filter icon in the upper-left corner to refine the display by team, owner, or project type.

  • Sort columns such as Progress or End Date to view projects by completion or due date.

  • Click Export to Excel in the upper-right corner to download the data for further analysis or reporting.

Summary

The Timeline View transforms your work into a living roadmap where every milestone tells a story and every project plays its part in the bigger picture.
From high-level planning to daily execution, it keeps your organization moving in sync, helping teams stay aligned, proactive, and always one step ahead.
