Understanding the Business Outcomes Dashboard

Watch this overview video for more information:

Almost a decade ago we built this concept of a visual room with vibrant walls that bring visibility into DEMAND (strategic and annual OKRs we aim to achieve and related projects/epics) and CAPACITY (the teams of teams who are aligned to own and support achievement of these outcomes). Soon it became a popular pattern that has attracted executives and even board members to come visit and tour this powerful room. Today, Achieve Outcomes is a digital twin within AgilityInsights.

Executive Dashboard

The Outcomes view displays the progress on objectives and key results. Strategic KPIs are tracked at the company level and cascaded to each business unit.

The Outputs/Projects view displays the progress on Projects/Initiatives, Deliverables and shows a list of Obstacles. Each of these bars is clickable with a drill through.

The Maturity view displays the results of the most recent team and organizational ways of working and culture assessment with a list of improvement action items planned and completed.

Delivery and Project Management

The Project View shows a list of all Initiatives/Projects with their overall progress. You can expand each item to see the sub-projects and deliverables under it - these are usually quarterly milestones. Labels such as 'Project,' Initiative,' and 'Epic' can be customized to fit the company's standards.

The Financial View shows the budget and actual spend by project, the health of the project, and the overall spend of the portfolio.

The Grid View and Timeline View can be expended to show the overall progress of deliverables for each project.

Navigation

To get to the Business Outcomes dashboard, log into AgilityInsights® and click the Achieve Outcomes link at the top of the page. If this feature is not enabled for your company, contact your Company Admin or Customer Success Manager.

On the Business Outcomes dashboard, each level of your organization and your portfolios, business lines, and teams are represented in the left navigation. The top level of the left navigation represents the organization, with teams organized by portfolio, program, or other levels your company chose in the setup process. We commonly refer to these levels as n-tier, enterprise, multi-team, and team.

Under the Unassigned node, you may see several teams listed. As you assign teams as sub-teams of another level, they will be removed from the Unassigned data and will populate in the left nav under the parent team.

Hint: Click the carets in the left navigation to expose team layers throughout the organization.

When you select a team in the left navigation, the view to the right will adjust to represent that level of your organization and the views you choose on the dashboard.
